If you dont like ilok, fine, i can understand why you wont buy this, but for an intro price of $99, i can’t see why this could be a bad product, especially when its latency free AND YOU CAN TRACK WITH THEM WITH NO LATENCY. Graham still uses stock plugins when he mixes, but for someone like me that wants analogue eq’s and compressors, this plugin solves every problem i’ve ever had trying to find a company that produces analogue emulations that actually null with the hardware in real life. I can tell you that these plugins are the best of their kind on the market right now. Guys, i’m operating on a very tight budget too, but i was involved in the beta test for this product as well as Fabrice Gabriel’s Eiosis Air EQ.

The smart thing to do with a supposed “free” plugin would have been to release it without the VMR wrapper. You could at least have mentioned that Slate Digital does in fact require you to use an iLok USB key that you’ll have to purchase if you want to use their “free” software. I don’t want to have yet another weak link in my ability to use the software I rightfully own, because of an easy to lose or leave behind piece of hardware that you really don’t need. I already had to use my year of recovery allowance from Waves because their installer used the wrong MAC address on my computer and rendered all my licenses useless. That’s all well and good, but I’ve heard far, far too many horror stories about iLoks to trust PACE with my paid or unpaid licenses.

I understand the premise behind iLok: no pirated software means lower prices for everyone because you can’t just get the plugin cracked for free and deny the company payment for their efforts in creating the software. What’s more is that you have to buy it unless you’re also buying a plugin from a company that utilizes iLok, like Slate Digital. You download VMR for free, and you get a fancy iLok activation code, which will only register the free plugin in a paid, massively convoluted anti-piracy platform called iLok, which requires a hardware key that will eat up a USB slot and try its best to break if you do anything besides leave it in the back of your machine.

Please download and install the new iLok License Manager from !license-manager. It needs to be simpler in my opinion, or more clearly explained for the get go. I’ve already spent an hour trying to decipher this. Furthermore, the Revival is nowhere to be found instead I have l the toolkit with the 15 day trial featuring the full bundle of plug ins. The licences appear on the virtual iDongle (i’m guessing that’s what it is based on the logo) but not my computer. The content is all about the ilok and dongle.
